O.C. Tanner: what it says it offers
O.C. Tanner is a recognition company that sells software and awards together. As of October 2026, its homepage lists Culture Cloud with products for employee recognition, celebrations, a global rewards marketplace, specialty storefronts and custom awards. Under its rewards marketplace it lists corporate gifting for "bulk gifts for teams from 10 to 10K+."
Its service awards page is built around the Yearbook: "Crowdsourced messages, photos, and videos create a keepsake," which can be digital or printed. The page says "Recipients receive a tailored Yearbook and a meaningful award," supported by "automated reminders, integrated award selection, and worldwide fulfillment." Its custom awards page invites buyers to partner with O.C. Tanner's designers on symbolic awards.
For workers away from a desk, its deskless employees page describes "a full suite of offline recognition tools" and says "No corporate email, no problem."
Fits fleets that have a large mixed workforce, want one enterprise platform for office and field staff, and like a peer-message keepsake around each service anniversary.
Terryberry: what it says it offers
Terryberry is a recognition company that started in physical awards and added software. As of October 2026, its about page says it "started as a custom jewelry manufacturer in Grand Rapids, Michigan." Its homepage describes one engagement program with modules for recognition, rewards, wellbeing and employee surveys, and says it is "Driving Employee Success for 44,000+ Organizations."
Its symbolic awards page is specific about production: awards are handcrafted "in our Grand Rapids, MI factory since 1918," it works with organizations "from 200 employees to 50,000+," it has no order minimums to get started, and "most custom orders are delivered within 3-5 weeks." The same page says Terryberry offers both tangible awards and points-based rewards. Its service award programs guide defines a service award program as recognition "at defined tenure milestones, such as 1, 5, 10, or 25 years of service."
Fits fleets that want US-made custom pieces such as rings and pins, a stated production window, and survey and wellbeing tools in the same contract.
How each is sold
Both companies sell through a consultation rather than a price list. As of October 2026, neither site publishes a price, and both route buyers to a demo: O.C. Tanner's pages use "Get a Demo" and "Explore With an Expert," and Terryberry's use "Get a Demo." Terryberry's symbolic awards page adds that it will "give you a clear timeline in your consultation before any order is placed."
That means the quote depends on what you bring to the first call. Have these ready before you book either demo:
- Headcount by location, split into drivers, shop, dispatch and office.
- Hire dates for every employee, so the vendor can count how many 1-, 5-, 10- and 20-year anniversaries fall in the next 12 months.
- Your milestone schedule, including whether you want to honor safe-driving years or career miles separately from years of service.
- Where awards should land: terminals, one hub, or drivers' homes.
- A budget range per milestone, so both vendors quote the same scope.
Ask each vendor to quote the same scope, in writing, with implementation, platform and award costs listed separately. Two quotes built on the same inputs are the only fair way to compare vendors that publish no prices.
Terryberry vs O.C. Tanner for a fleet with drivers on the road
A trucking fleet is not a typical office. Many over-the-road drivers have no company email, may not pass a terminal for weeks, and see recognition only if it reaches their phone or their mailbox. Use this decision table to match each vendor's stated features to your situation. It shows fit, not quality.
| Your fleet's situation | What to look at | Which vendor's pages address it |
|---|---|---|
| Most drivers have no company email | Offline recognition tools | O.C. Tanner says "No corporate email, no problem"; Terryberry says field workers get mobile access |
| You want US-made custom rings or pins | Where awards are made | Terryberry states its Grand Rapids, MI factory and "Made in the USA" |
| You want peer messages around each anniversary | Service anniversary format | O.C. Tanner's Yearbook |
| You are under about 200 employees | Organization size served | Terryberry states "from 200 employees"; O.C. Tanner does not state a range on the pages read |
| You need awards in time for a fixed date | Production lead time | Terryberry states 3 to 5 weeks for most custom orders; ask O.C. Tanner |
| You also want employee surveys | Platform modules | Terryberry lists a survey module; ask O.C. Tanner what it offers |
| You need team gifts in bulk | Bulk gifting | O.C. Tanner lists bulk gifts for teams of 10 and up |
What neither vendor's pages answer for a trucking fleet
Neither company's pages, as read, answer these fleet questions directly. Ask both in writing:
- Delivery to a driver on the road. Can the award ship to the driver's home, to a terminal, or to one hub for a manager to present? Who collects the addresses?
- Safety separate from service. Can a safe-driving award run on its own track, apart from years of service, so one incident does not cancel a tenure award?
- Mileage milestones. Can the program honor career miles, such as a million-mile driver, in addition to years?
- Seasonal volume. What is the order cut-off for September, when National Truck Driver Appreciation Week falls?
- Admin load. Who keeps hire dates current: your HR system, your team, or the vendor?
If your fleet weighs a points platform against physical awards in general, our planned post on recognition software vs physical awards covers that choice.
O.C. Tanner alternatives, and Terryberry's
If neither vendor fits, the field is wide. Our list of Terryberry alternatives covers eight options, from full platforms to gift-choice programs to award catalogs, each with facts from its own pages.
One of those options is built for trucking. Driver Appreciation Solutions (DAS) is a specialist in recognition programs for the trucking industry, focused on curated driver appreciation and fulfillment rather than a software platform. DAS offers years-of-service awards and keeps career and safety recognition on separate tracks. Mileage medals run from 1 million to 6 million miles on both tracks; the 250K and 500K medals are coming soon. Pieces carry the fleet's logo, driver names and colors with no setup fee and no artwork charge, and delivery goes to a terminal, one hub or individual drivers across the United States. The minimum order is 10 units on all items. Pricing is quoted per program. Request current pricing.
Fits fleets that want curated appreciation for professional drivers with fulfillment handled for them. See how the two tracks work on our driver milestone awards page.
How to decide
Book demos with both vendors and send each the same five questions from the section above. Score the written answers, not the demo. If the deciding factor is reaching drivers who are rarely at a desk, weigh delivery and address handling above platform features.
